SURABAYA — International Auto Modified (IAM) Surabaya 2026 once again proved that Indonesia’s modification scene is no longer just about building cars for competition. It has grown into a full automotive culture, bringing together custom builds, aftermarket brands, detailing specialists, car communities, content creators, and lifestyle audiences in one space.

Held on June 20–21, 2026, at Tunjungan Plaza Surabaya, the event attracted strong attention from automotive enthusiasts across East Java. For two full days, the venue was filled with modified cars, motorcycles, sponsor booths, automotive products, diecast displays, entertainment programs, and visitors who came to experience Indonesia’s growing custom scene up close.

The show featured a wide range of modification styles, from clean daily-use builds and OEM+ concepts to stance, racing-inspired setups, performance projects, restoration builds, diesel tuning, and more extreme competition cars. This variety became one of the strongest points of IAM Surabaya 2026, showing how broad Indonesia’s aftermarket culture has become.

In the motorcycle area, several popular models such as Yamaha Mio, Yamaha NMAX, Honda PCX, Honda Stylo, and Kawasaki Ninja were displayed with different approaches to customization. Some builds focused on visual details, while others highlighted upgraded suspension, accessories, bodywork, and engine-related modifications.

Meanwhile, the four-wheel section presented an even wider range of vehicles. Classic models, modern street cars, high-performance builds, diesel-based projects, and aggressive show cars stood side by side. A Volkswagen Super Beetle Cabriolet became one of the eye-catching classic builds, while several modern cars displayed more technical modification work through wheels, suspension, braking systems, engine upgrades, audio setups, and custom interior details.

Beyond the vehicles, IAM Surabaya 2026 also reflected the growing role of Indonesia’s aftermarket industry. Product brands, car care businesses, lighting specialists, workshops, and automotive service providers used the event as a platform to connect directly with enthusiasts. For visitors, the event was not only a car show, but also a place to discover new products, meet builders, and understand current trends in the local modification market. As part of its coverage, AF Media also conducted interviews with several participants and industry players, including Panda Auto Detailing, Blink Car Studio, PRO7, and Nogogeni Team. These conversations gave a closer look at how the industry is developing from different angles, including detailing standards, lighting innovation, custom car building, and the direction of Indonesia’s modification culture. From the car care side, Panda Auto Detailing emphasized the importance of proper working standards in detailing and coating services. According to the owner, a proper coating process cannot be rushed because every stage needs preparation, quality control, and finishing time. The message was clear: professional detailing is not only about speed, but also consistency, process, and final quality.A strong message also came from Blink Car Studio, the workshop involved in the Honda Civic FD that won The King Wild at IAM Surabaya 2026. The build stood out with major modifications across multiple sectors, including wheels, suspension, braking system, turbo setup, intercooler, engine management, audio, interior, lighting, and custom visual details.

For Blink Car Studio, modification should not simply follow trends. A build must still consider function, safety, and the purpose of the vehicle. A competition car can be more extreme, but a daily-use vehicle still needs to remain practical and safe on the road. This view reflects a more mature direction in Indonesia’s custom car scene, where concept, execution, and responsibility are becoming just as important as appearance. The peak of IAM Surabaya 2026 took place on Sunday night, June 21. The awarding session began with motorcycle categories before moving into entertainment programs, Miss IAM, and finally the main car categories. The four-wheel awards started later in the evening and continued until the highest honors were announced.

The King Wild title was awarded to a Honda Civic FD, representing the more extreme side of modification. The car stood out through its extensive work across the engine bay, undercarriage, suspension, wheels, audio, interior, and custom finishing details. Its overall execution showed a high level of commitment from both the owner and the workshop behind the project. On the other side, The King Mild title was awarded to a Toyota FT86 Series. Unlike the Wild category, the Mild category focuses more on balanced modification, clean execution, and the ability to retain the vehicle’s usability. The FT86 represented a more refined approach, where visual appeal, component selection, and daily-use function remain closely connected. The event closed with strong enthusiasm from participants, communities, and visitors. After the winners were announced, the exhibition area remained busy as owners, teams, and spectators captured the final moments of the show.

IAM Surabaya 2026 showed that Indonesia’s automotive modification scene continues to move forward. It is no longer only about individual builds, but also about the ecosystem surrounding them: workshops, parts suppliers, detailing businesses, lighting brands, media, communities, and young audiences who see cars as part of lifestyle and identity.Following the Surabaya coverage, AF Media will continue its regional automotive coverage as an official media partner for IAM Singapore 2026, scheduled for September 5–6, 2026. The Singapore round will become another important stage to observe how Southeast Asian car culture, aftermarket trends, and custom builds continue to evolve beyond Indonesia.
